QuestionThe Ute Trail over the Front Range

NativeRoutes Moderator · Sep 28, 2026

Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park follows the general line of a Ute route across the Continental Divide, and the park still has a section of footpath called the Ute Trail.

Warren's 1857 map labels the "Utahs country" in western Colorado and the Cheyenne and Arapaho on the plains. Where else in Colorado do modern roads follow old Ute or Arapaho routes?
