The Southwest Trail ran from the Missouri border through Little Rock toward the Red River and Texas. It began as a Native route and became a military road in the 1830s; parts of it later carried people on the Trail of Tears.
Warren's 1857 map is small-scale, but it shows the corridor. Does anyone know good sources for the older Quapaw and Caddo paths it grew from?
