Nations and the lands ceded

The 266 present-day nations that the U.S. Forest Service and National NAGPRA Program’s digitization of Royce’s Indian Land Cessions (1899) associates with lands ceded to the United States between 1784 and 1894. Each page lists the cessions, with the treaty texts, and the trails and maps across those lands.

A cession is when the United States took title, not the whole of a homeland; many nations, and much land, are missing from treaty records altogether. Nations’ own accounts and names come first — corrections: [email protected].
